Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is all set to return with a bigger and better season 5 which begins in Hyderabad on July 28. After four action-packed and blockbuster seasons, this edition of Pro Kabaddi League promises more to exceed all expectations of their fans with more fun and some serious action. The three-month long extravaganza will feature 12 teams who will battle in 138 matches and travel across 12 host cities to prove their dominance on the Kabaddi mat. Set to become India's biggest sports league now, PKL will culminate with a grand finale in Chennai on 28 October.
In 2017, Tamil Thalaivas, UP Yoddha, Gujarat Fortune Giants and Haryana Steelers are the latest additions to the Pro Kabaddi League. According to the new format, 12 teams have been divided into two zones of six teams each, where each team will play 15 intra-zone and seven inter-zone matches, before the playoffs.
The title winners of PKL season 5 will take home a huge sum of Rs 3 crores. However, the total prize money at stake in the competition is Rs 8 crores.
In the opening match, home side Telugu Titans take will take on the new entrants Tamil Thalaivas in Hyderabad on Friday. Abhishek Bachchan owned Jaipur Pink Panthers won the first edition of Pro Kabaddi in 2014, while U Mumba claimed the second in 2015.
