CWG 2018: Gold haul awaits India on wrestling mat as Sushil Kumar, Rahul Aware, Babita Kumari advance to finals

Star of Indian wrestling and two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar entered the finals of men's freestyle 74kg gold medal match with out breaking a sweat.

Three more gold medals await India on the wrestling mat as Sushil Kumar, Rahul Aware and Babita Kumari entered the finals of their respective categories at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia on Thursday.

Star of Indian wrestling and two-time Olympic medallist Sushil entered the finals of men's freestyle 74kg gold medal match with out breaking a sweat.

Sushil first overpowered Jevon Balfour of Canada to enter the quarter-finals. He then defeated Pakistan's Muhammad Asad Butt to enter the semis.

Sushil, who won the bronze medal at 2008 Beijing Olympics and a silver at the 2012 London Olympics, then decimated Australia's Connor Evans to storm into the final.

Sushil will now take on South African wrestler Johannes Botha in the final.

Meanwhile, Aware too won his bouts in comprehensive fashion, overpowering George Ramm of England and Australia's Thomas Cichhini by technical superiority.

Aware the defeated Pakistan's Muhammad Bilal in the semi-finals to enter the final of men's freestyle 57kg category.

Aware will now face Canada's Steven Takahashi in the final bout.

On the other hand, India's Babita Kumari defeated Bose Samuel of Nigeria in the freestyle 53kg Nordic category of the women's wrestling. 

Babita, who won the silver medal at 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, then overpowered Sri Lanka's Deepika Dilhani and Australia's Carissa Holland to make her way to the finals.

Babita will now take on Canada's Diana Weicker in the gold medal match.

Meanwhile, India's Kiran will take on Katouskia Pariadhaven in the bronze medal bout of women's freestyle 76kg category.

Kiran lost to Nigeria's Blessing Onyebuchi in the semi-finals.
