India won its first gold medal in the 18th edition of the Asian Games and it was once again Bajrang Punia who continues his excellent form by winning gold in the Men's 65kg freestyle event at Jakarta.
In what seemed to be a rough day for India, it was Bajrang who stood tall as he defeated Japan's Takatani Daichi 11-8.
Bajrang also won gold in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.
Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar stunned by Bahrain's Adam Batirov in the 74 kg category, as the Indian wrestling team's campaign at the 18th Asian Games began on a sour note.
However, Sushil is not yet out of the competition. If Batirov makes the final, the Indian will be in with a chance to win bronze through the repechage.
Earlier, shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar guided India to their first medal at the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia by winning bronze in 10m Air Rifle Mixed match. The Indian duo finished the 429.9 score behind China and Chinese Taipei.
