Bhopal, Oct 17: Punjab posted a 5-1 win over Indian Universities in a Pool D league match of the Women's National Hockey Championship here Wednesday.
For Punjab, skipper Amandeep Kaur (2), Ramanjeet Kaur (1), Sangeeta Minz (1) and Sadhna (1) scored while Indian Universities' reply came from Narinder Kaur (1).
In Pool F, Jharkhand hammered Assam 32-0 with Binita Xess scoring six goals followed by Anila(5), Sushila Lakra (3), Swati Herenj (3), Shilwanti Minjur (2), Laurencia Kerketta (2), Shabnam Lakra (2), Dibya Kerketta (2), Punam M Tete (2), Anima Minz (2), Etwari Mundu (2) and Sarita Lakra (1).
Uttar Pradesh edged past Tripura 17-0 in their opening match of Pool H with the six goals score by Kavita Mourya. Prathiba Chaudhary (4), Deepika Sharma (4), Shrishti Singh (2) and Reetu Singh (1) were the other goal scorers. In another match of Pool H, Delhi beat Bengal 5-1 with Sangeeta Singh and Sneh scoring two goals apiece followed by Jyoti (1) while Meenu Khatun scored the only goal for Bengal.
Manipur started their campaign on a winning note in Pool B as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 8-0. Manipur who led 4-0 at the half time scored through Monoroma Devi Asem (2), Ibemhal M.C Sangai (2), Ranjita Devi Thockchom (2), Pinky Devi Thockchom (1) and Loibi Chanu (1).
