AIFF seeks probe into Qatar's controversial goal as India's World Cup dream comes to screeching halt

India had taken an early lead after Lallianzuala Chhangte found the back of the net in the first half. Brandon Fernandes's mishit shot was utilised well by Chhangte and India had a realistic reason to believe.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has filed a complaint to seek a probe into the contentious goal awarded to Qatar during India's must-win clash against them in a FIFA World Cup qualifier game in Doha.

Yousef Aymen's equaliser in the 73rd minute was awarded to Qatar despite the ball clearly going out of the playing area. Qatar's Hashmi Hussein dragged the ball into play before Aymen seized the opportunity and converted it into a goal.

The Indian players expressed their displeasure at the South Korean referee Kim Woo-Sung's decision and even protested for a while but it all went in vain as the on-field official upheld his decision.

Iran's Hamed Momeni was the match commissioner for the fixture and the AIFF has lodged a complaint with him.

"We have lodged a complaint with the match commissioner and are seeking a thorough investigation into the whole thing," an AIFF official told PTI.

Igor Stimac indecisive about his future with the Blue Tigers

India's football coach Igor Stimac is indecisive about his future with the Indian team. The Croatian had earlier promised to quit his position if he failed to take India through to the third round of the ongoing FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

However, after a controversial 2-1 loss to Qatar on Tuesday, Stimac said that he would require more time to think about his future.

"That's something we need to discuss internally in the next few weeks where our futures stand. There is nothing I can tell you now," Stimac was quoted as saying by PTI.

"What I can tell you is that it was obvious tonight that India has a good future in football. Many people will say that Qatar played with a reserve team, but our team is not that older than the Qatari team today," he added.
