World T20: Clash of traditional foes India-Pakistan, a cracker of a contest

Mirpur: Cricket connoisseurs on both side of the border could not have asked for a better start than two traditional rivals India and Pakistan sweating it out under the flood lights here today when the

The Pakistan national team has played more T20 Internationals than its Indian counterparts, who last played an official T20 International against Australia in October last year.

There will be some great inner battle within the main contest. Shahid Afridi's pyrotechnics against Ravichandran Ashwin's variations, Umar Gul's pace against Virat Kohli's bravado, Saeed Ajmal's guile against Mahendra Singh Dhoni's flair.

Unlike India Pakistan looks weak as far as batting is concerned. They have been struggling in this department for a long time. Their batting usually revolve around Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik , captain Mohammad Hafeez and Shahid Afridi. Pakistan have included mostly young players in the squad but they have yet prove themselves and if they do, there is no better game than this one to be hero in their country.

One can say without a second thought that Pakistan has an edge over India when it comes to bowling. They have very very experienced fast bowler in Umar Gul who not only swings the ball both ways but is accurate also to dry up the runs.

The number one T20 bowler Saeed Ajmal can't wait to bowl on these tracks where he can make a batsman dance on his tune. He will be well supported by captain Mohammad Hafeez who is no novice with slow spin bowling and who has a trick or two up his sleeve.

The other area which could be the cause for concern for Pakistan is their fielding. They just can't afford to drop catches of Dhawan, Virat or Dhoni or give away extra runs in a match where every single will count.

It is impossible to think that Afridi's last-over exploits wouldn't play on the Indian cricketers' minds ahead of the game but this time the format is completely different.
