World T20: A glance at the most memorable moments

New Delhi: It's been seven years since India won the inaugural T20 world cup in 2007. This year, it will be the 5th edition of the World T20 in which 16 teams are competing against each other. There are many moments that we have witnessed in the last four editions.These are the 10 memorable moments that will take you back to their time:1) India – Pakistan bowl out (2007): A tie between India and Pakistan at group stage match in 2007 when Misbah-ul-Haq was run out on the last ball. Pakistan needed just 1 run to win the match. This led to the first and last ever bowl out in World T20. For India Sehwag, Harbhajan and Robin Uthappa hit the stumps but for Pakistan Arafat, Afridi and Umar Gul miss the target, losing by 0-3 to India.2) Yuvraj's 6 sixes (2007): The rare scene in cricket which was witnessed second time in the year after Gibbs hit 6 sixes in 50 over world cup, but this time it was Yuvraj Singh's turn. After a small clash with Flintoff, Yuvraj hit Stuart Broad out of the park six times in a row and completed his half century in just 12 balls which is a record. His innings also boosted Indian score upto 218/5 in 20 overs which is the highest total for India in T20s.3) Chris Gayle's inaugural ton (2007): The first World T20 in 2007 got the start in the very first match between West Indies and South Africa that everybody wanted. Gayle showed the fire of T20 cricket and smashed 117 runs off just 57 balls that took West Indies to 205 in 20 overs. He also became the first man to score 100 in T20 internationals.4) Zimbabwe beat Australia (2007): Zimbabwe brings the first major upset in the tournament's fourth match when they defeated the World Champions Australia by 5 wickets. Brendan Taylor scored 60 runs off 45 balls to take Zimbabwe to an historical win.5) India vs Pakistan Final (2007): After the dead close encounter in the group stage match, the arch rivals met again in the big final where India defeated Pakistan by a margin of just 5 runs. Dhoni handed over the ball to Joginder Sharma which thought to be a disaster move, but it worked! The scoop shot played by Misbah, the catch taken by Sree Santh and the commentary by Ravi Shastri stuck in everybody's heart.6) First hat-trick in T20 internationals (2007): Australian fast bowler Brett Lee swept away three Bangla batsmen Shakib Al Hassan, Mashrafe Mortaza and Alok Kapali in a row and took the first ever hat-trick in Twenty20 cricket. 7) Netherlands defeated England (2009): 2009 World T20 began with some major upsets when Netherlands defeated England by 4 wickets in the first match chasing the target of 163 runs till the last ball of their innings. The opening ceremony of the tournament was also washed out due to rain. 8) Mohammad Amir's five wicket over (2010): Mohammad Amir's last over in a group stage match between Australia and Pakistan accounted for 2 run outs and 3 wickets which made the opponents collapse to 191 in 20 overs from 191/5 in 19 overs. He came to bowl the last over with the figures of 3-0-23-0 and finishes at 4-1-23-5. Brad Haddin, Mitchell Johnson, Steve Smith, Dirk Nannes and Shaun Tait were his victims.9) Ajantha Mendis magical spell (2012): After the powerful batting display by the Lankans against Zimbabwe which put them to 182/5 in 20 overs, the lankan magical spinner Ajantha Mendis claimed his career best 6 wickets for 8 runs in his four overs and stopped Zimbabwe at 100. This was his first T20 international in about 10 months.10) West Indies winning celebration (2012): The country which dominated the cricket once had won any world title after 33 years to win the 2012 World T20 held in Sri Lanka. The players were dancing on the song “Oppa Gangnam Style”, a Korean song sung by PSY. Later at the time of group photograph, Chris Gayle did some push-ups in front of the team.
