New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the schedule of the much-awaited cricket tournament, setting stage for one of the biggest cricket frenzies to take over Indian fans three weeks from now.
The 2016 edition of the tournament, which is to be held in India, will be staged at eight venues between March 8 and April 3.
India begins its World T20 journey squaring off against New Zealand on March 15. The highly anticipated India-Pakistan battle is scheduled for March 19.
In terms of the schedule of matches, afternoon matches will be played between 3 pm and 6 pm (IST), while the evening matches will be held from 7.30 pm to 10.40 pm.
The timings of semi-finals and the final have been scheduled to begin from 7 pm and will end at around 10.10 pm.
Here is India's schedule for the World T20 2016:
1st match: India vs New Zealand- March 15
2nd match: India vs Pakistan- March 19
3rd match: India vs TBD- March 25
4th match: India vs Australia- March 31
Venue for Knockouts:
SEMI-FINAL 1- Ferozeshah Kotla, Delhi - March 30
SEMI-FINAL 2- Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai- March 31
FINAL- Eden Gardens, Kolkata- April 3
The cricket governing body in the world has also announced the schedule of warm up matches.
Teams taking part in the first round will play their warm-up matches in Dharamsala and Mohali from March 3- March 6, while sides featuring in the second round will play warm-up matches in Kolkata and Mumbai from March 10-March 15.
