Canberra: AB de Villiers, South Africa's skipper, while praising the efforts of the team said now they can win the World Cup title. South Africa today defeated a very trick Irish side by a huge margin of 201 runs and has become the first team in One day International (ODI) history to score more than 400 runs in an ODI match.
Talking with the media persons after the match, South Africa's skipper AB de Villiers said “we found ourselves in a great position going into the last 15 overs which gave us a lot of freedom to express ourselves. We ticked a lot of boxes today.
I'm just very happy with the way that we did the basics well today and stuck to playing a tight game of cricket."
The skipper also said that his team is indeed in a position to win the World Cup this time around after South African team has performed some stupendous performed over the last couple of years. He said " The confidence is still there.
The belief is still there. We know that we've got a very long way to go. There is a lot of cricket to be played. It's been said so many times that we are one of the favourites to win this tournament, and deep down inside we know we can."
Opener Hashim Amla who became the fastest batsman to score twenty ODI centuries was also present in the press conference and attributed his success saying he likes to score runs whenever he gets an opportunity.
