Melbourne, Australia: International Cricket Council chief executive Dave Richardson says suspensions and harsher fines will form part of a crackdown on players who breach the code of conduct during the World Cup.

Richardson says all players have been warned after a dozen or more instances of behavior in recent months that was "not a good example to young fans."

While he didn't specify teams or individuals, there have been some heated exchanges between players from Australia, India and England in recent summers.

Richardson says, "We're not expecting too much trouble — hopefully those who tend to get a little bit too excited on occasions will keep their calm."

Match referees have been instructed to issue harsher fines at the World Cup, which starts Saturday, and Richardson said repeat offenders could be suspended.
