Chennai: After the Supreme Court's verdict on Thursday barring N Srinivasan from contesting the BCCI polls after IPL match fixing controversy, speculations are high that Jagmohan Dalmiya former ICC and BCCI president, might contest the BCCI president election to be held within next six months as directed by the apex court.

Currently, Srinivasan is in Sringeri mutt and as soon as he is back, a BCCI meeting will be convened in Chennai in which Dalmiya's candidature could be announced.

A member of the Srinivasan camp quoted by the Times of India newspaper said, “We have spoken to him (Dalmiya) today. He looks the favorite.”

Even Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who met Srinivasan on Sunday at his residence, is also in favor of Dalmiya as a presidential candidate.

The president-in-exile, Srinivasan, is reportedly happy with the Supreme Court giving him clean chit on suspicion of being a part of any cover-up operation for his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan.

He has not made any final decision public whether or not he will contest the forthcoming BCCI election but however, it seems he may field a dummy candidate for the BCCI president's position.

One reason behind this is thought to be that although Chennai Super Kings, an IPL franchise,  has already been made a separate company under the India Cements umbrella and has been effective since January 1, but India Cements controls 100 percent shares of the other new company India Cements Private Limited and it's unlikely that the Lodha committee will agree to the fact that India Cements MD Srinivasan is not the actual boss of the private limited entity.

Hence it is highly unlikely that Srinivasan will step down as the MD of India Cements just to continue as the president of BCCI.
