Port Elizabeth, South Africa: The West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second test against South Africa at St. George's Park on Friday as it looked to bounce back from a heavy defeat in last week's series opener.

The tourists made three changes to the side that lost the first test of the three-match series by an innings and 220 runs, with the injured Kemar Roach unavailable and Jermaine Blackwood and Sheldon Cottrell left out.

Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel replaced Roach, while new one-day international captain Jason Holder was drafted in and 32-year-old fast bowler Kenroy Peters made his test debut.

For South Africa, Temba Bavuma made his debut in place of the injured Quinton de Kock and became the first black African batsman to play in a test for the Proteas, while legspinner Imran Tahir replaced seamer Kyle Abbott.

Teams:

South Africa: Hashim Amla (capt), Dean Elgar, Alviro Petersen, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers (wk), Stiaan van Zyl, Temba Bavuma, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir.

West Indies: Denesh Ramdin (capt, wk), Kraigg Brathwaite, Devon Smith, Leon Johnson, Marlon Samuels, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Jason Holder, Jerome Taylor, Shannon Gabriel, Kenroy Peters, Sulieman Benn.
