Kolkata, Nov 13: West Indies captain Darren Sammy says he is likely to play an extra spinner in the second test against India that starts on Monday because he expects another slow pitch at Eden Gardens.
Sammy says Sunday it is possible that off-spinner Shane Shillingford will be brought in for pace bowler Ravi Rampaul as the West Indies looks to even the three-test series.
Sammy says the pitch “will help spinners like you would expect” but promises that his batsmen will look to counterattack the slow bowlers in an effort to prevent India from completing a series-clinching win.
The visiting side played leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo with part-time off-spinner Marlon Samuels for support in the opening test in New Delhi, which it lost by five wickets.
