New Delhi: DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan on Thursday said they want Virender Sehwag to continue playing for the Delhi team, pleading ignorance that the opener was considering a switch for the upcoming domestic season.

"A few days back I sent an SMS to him but there is no response as of now. I guess he is travelling abroad, that is why he is yet to get back to us. Having said that, we don't want him to play for any other team, we want him to stay," Chauhan, himself a former India opener, told PTI on Thursday.

Media reports claimed that Sehwag may move to Haryana.

"We are not very sure what is happening. Only when he informs us, we will be in a position to talk to him," he said further.

Asked about DDCA's future course of action in case Sehwag leaves, Chauhan said, "We have got youngsters but we don't want him to go, we want him to continue. This (Delhi) is where he started his cricket and we want him to finish his cricket career here only. He is a dynamic player, a champion player, one of the best produced by Delhi as well as India.

"We want him to continue, the rest depends on him. We have to accept whatever he decides. We can only request him."

Speculation on Sehwag's future comes at a time when trouble is brewing again in the messy DDCA with players not being paid for four Ranji Trophy seasons.

"If he (Sehwag) has any issues with the DDCA, we are here to sort it out. He just needs to discuss it with us," said Chauhan.

Chauhan added that players' payment issue will be sorted out soon.

"I have taken personal interest in releasing the players' payments for Ranji Trophy. The BCCI is yet to release the payment for 2011-12 and 2012-13. I am in regular touch with the BCCI and the money should be coming in soon. For 2013-14, we will sending the list to BCCI in couple of days and for the last season (2014-15) the books are not yet closed but that will also be done soon," he said.
