New Delhi, Jul 9: Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram will marry his girlfriend of two years, Australian PR consultant Shaniera Thompson, the Australian newspaper reported.
Akram told the newspaper: "I never thought I would get married again, but I am lucky and very happy to find love again. It just goes to show that life can give you a second chance."
Shaniera Thompson has converted from Christianity to Islam and will reside in Pakistan with Akram.
Akram's first wife Huma died in 2009. Since then he had been linked in the media to Sushmita Sen and Pakistani model Humaima Malik.
Finally, Akram opted for the Australian. The report said, the 47-year-old cricketer went down on his knee to propose to 30-year-old Shaniera.
Shaniera then told Akram "If we are doing this the traditional way, then you have to ask my father."
Akram then called up Mr Thompson and got his approval.
