Melbourne, Australia: Former Australia test wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has failed to overturn a fine and one-match ban for pitch tampering.
Wade, the Victoria state captain, will miss his team's four-day match against Western Australia starting Friday after Code of Conduct Commissioner Alan Sullivan dismissed his appeal.
The 12-test veteran was suspended for one match and fined half his match fee after umpires reported him for pitch tampering during his innings of 119 for Victoria against Tasmania earlier this month.
Umpires Ian Lock and Sam Nogajski ruled changes to the pitch during Wade's innings were "created by means other than normal wear and tear."
Sullivan chaired a three-hour hearing Thursday after which he dismissed Wade's appeal
