New Delhi: India's flamboyant batsman Virat Kohli, who stoked controversy during the world cup with his verbal outburst at a Hindustan Times journalist, will be under BCCI's scrutiny, cricketing body chief Jagmohan Dalmiya said.
According to Dalmiya, the player will be on notice for his behaviour. "Well, it (Kohli's outbursts) has to be examined and whatever corrective measures are needed will have to be taken," the BCCI boss said in an interview to a leading daily.
"I'm not brushing it aside, but I'm not saying all is well either," he added
Dalmiya also said, he would himself watch the new Test captain before taking a final call on whether action needed to be taken over his attitude.
The veteran cricket administrator, however, added, "Why talk about it? If something has to be done, I will do it. Simply talking about it could seem like a failure."
26-year old Kohli recently hogged limelight for wrong reasons after he hurled abuses at Hindustan Times journalist Jasvinder Sidhu in perth, mistaking him for another journalist. Even after discovering his mistake, he did not apologise. The incident earned him a reprimand from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur.
On his return from world cup after the semi-final loss to Australia, the star batsman slammed his critics saying they ‘should be ashamed of themselves' and that ‘no one has won more matches' than him in the last five years.
Speaking on the IPL spot-fixing scandal, Dalmiya said the new dispensation would not hesitate to act on the recommendations of a Supreme Court-appointed committee tasked with taking a final call on the future of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals and coming up with measures to clean up the BCCI in the light of the 2013 scandal.
"I can promise we will go all out (once the report is out). The idea is to spare no one," he said.
