UPW vs DCW WPL 2023 Highlights: Delhi reach final of Women's Premier League with thumping win over UP

Two already qualified teams, two strong sides in the WPL 2023- Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz clash against each other in the last match of the league stage. On Monday, Meg Lanning's Capitals inflicted another defeat to Harmanpreet Kaur's Mumbai Indians, while Alyssa Healy's Warriorz got the better of Sneh Rana's Gujarat Giants. With the tournament moving to the knockouts, both sides will want to display their 'A' game in Mumbai.

    Delhi win

    And Delhi have won. They are the first team to reach the finals of the WPL 2023. This was another clinical performance from them. They first restricted UP to an under-par score of 138 before the openers gave them a fiery. Even though wickets tumbled, the openers and Capsey and Kapp did enough damage to take them home with 5 wickets in hand. So, Capitals reach the finals and Mumbai will now face UP in the eliminator on Friday. It was pleasure bringing this to you. Hope you enjoyed, see you soon.

    And Ismail has struck twice after the powerplay. This time it's the big wicket of Meg Lanning. Pitched it short as Lanning tried to pull it but found the fielder at deep square leg. Is there some twist?

    This was a brilliant powerplay from DCW. Meg Lanning led the Capitals charge as she has put UPW under some serious pressure. But wait, Ismail has struck right after the powerplay with the wicket of Jemimah.

    Yashasri gets Shafali

    The debutant Yashasri gets her first wicket in the WPL. She has sent Shafali packing after a good cameo by the DC batter. this was pitched short and Shafali wanted to clear the long on fielder but Ecclestone at the ropes runs forward and takes a fine diving catch.

    Capitals make decent start

    That's a good start from DCW. Meg Lanning is punishing the bad balls as Capitals are at 34/0 after 3 overs. Verma is playing a fine supportive role.

    Warriorz set 139-run target

    And Tahlia McGrath has powered the Warriorz to a decent score of 138 here. The Warriorz were struggling in the powerplay and in the middle phase with wickets falling at regular interval. But McGrath provided the much needed impetus to the innings and remained unbeaten for 58 in 32 balls. She is now also the orange cap holder as she overtakes Meg Lanning. Capitals need to chase 139 to win this and if they do it with more than a ball to spare, they will top the group. Back with the chase.

    Capsey has struck twice now. This is good bowling. She has taken the ball away from Deepti and Ecclestone and got them stump out. Warriorz are tumbling here.

    Jonassen gets Navgire before time-out

    Jonassen has been rewarded with a wicket of Navgire. She tossed that up outside off, Navgire came down the track but got beaten as Bhatia behind the wickets completes an easy stumping. And its time out after 16 overs of the innings. Warriorz are at 94/4 and have lost Healy now. But Tahlia is out in the middle along with Deepti. Can she guide her team to some respectable total?

    And her awful stay comes to an end. Simran goes back in attempt to score runs as she had only 11 in 22 balls. Radha gets her second of the day.

    And Alice Capsey has got the Warriorz captain stumped out. Big wicket in context of the game. Healy was going well and was eyeing a fifty but she has been deceived on this one.

    Here's the first time-out of the match. Warriorz are placed at 53/1 after 8 overs. Healy is out there with Simran and the former has just sent Radha Yadav out of the stands in the 8th over.

    And there's the first wicket. Radha gets Sehrawat caught at point. This was a fuller ball as the batter wanted to play a big shot. She ends up getting a top edge, which carried at point. Simran Shaikh has come at 3. Warriorz are possibly giving chances to batters who have not batted much before the eliminator.
