Kolkata: While BCCI and Cricket Association of Bengal have left no stone unturned to make India-West Indies test series a memorable by inviting all important cricketers and officials across the world to witness legend Sachin Tendulkar play his last series but ironically they ignored two most important persons who recognized Sachin and inducted him in to the test side when he was just 16 years old.
Raj Singh Dungarpur led selection committee had selected Indian team for Pakistan tour in 1989 and only two selectors, Vishwanath Gundappa and Akash Lal. are alive today but they were not invited by either BCCI or CAB.
Saddened by the attitude Lal said, “what can you expect from these people? I even spoke to Jagmohan Dalmia when came to know about Sachin's 199th venue but he just didn't say a word.”
Selection committee was not in favouur of including Sachin in the team as they though he was too young to face bowlers like Imran Khan but Lal put his foot down, when voting tied 2-2, and said that if Haneef and Mushtaq mohammad can play at young age why not Sachin.
