9) Ajantha Mendis (Sri Lanka)
Once considered as a mystery bowler who piled on the agony on India, Mendis is getting lost into the oblivion and the World Cup omission could be the final nail in the coffin of his up-and-down cricket career.
There was no place for mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis but he simply does not have the form to justify his inclusion ahead of either Herath or Senanayake. On surfaces where spin is unlikely to be a factor, and with two spinners in Rangana Herath and Sachithra Senanayake, plus the part-time option of Dilshan already in the squad, he certainly had no place left.
Mendis enjoyed a terrific 2014, picking up 38 wickets in only 17 matches at an excellent average of 21.63. It came as a huge shock to the cricket fraternity.
