7) Nathan Lyon (Australia)

Nathan Lyon, the right arm off-break bowler and one of the main reasons of the downfall of Indian batting line up in the ongoing test series is at no. 7.  He has a total of 31 wickets in 16 innings at an economy of 3.53 and has the average of 41.45, the worst in the list.

In the first test against India at Adelaide he started with his second five wicket haul (5/134) of the year which was followed by another fifer (7/152) and went on to record his career best match figures of 12/286.

The 12-wicket haul by Nathan Lyon makes him the second Australian off-spinner in more than 100 years to have 12 wickets in a match. This figure is also the most by an Australia bowler against India. Among Australian spinners, Jason Krejza picked up 12 wickets as well at Nagpur in 2008, but he conceded 358 runs in that match while Lyon gave away 286, making Lyon's figures the best by an Australian spinner against India.

 

8) Stuart Broad (England)

England's pacer Stuart Broad with 30 wickets in 15 innings at an economy and average of 2.63 and 26.70 respectively, is at no. 8 in the best bowlers list.

He did not had much impressive year and managed to get just one five wicket haul which came against India in 4th Investec test in August 2014.

He picked up 6/25 in first innings of the test and rattled Indian batting line up which were bowled out for a mere 152. This was his year-best performance as he was not able to bowl in the second innings due to a bouncer which hit his nose while batting and had a minor hair-line fracture.

He was adjudges as the Man of the Match for his performance.

He was also the third highest wicket taker in the 5-test series with 19 wickets in 9 innings at an economy of 2.48.
