Chennai, Mar 8: Security has been tightened at the M A Chidambaram stadium here in the wake of reported unearthing of a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terror plot to target a cricket World Cup venue.
"Measures have been taken to provide 24-hour security at the stadium. There will also be mobile teams with cameras covering important places," Police Commissioner T Rajendran told reporters here when asked about reports that the LeT planned to strike one of the venues.
Surveillance cameras have also been installed in the stadium, he said.
Besides, security arrangements have been tightened at the hotels where the players would be accommodated and late night patrolling intensified, he said.
Police sources, however, said no specific information has been received about any threat to the stadium.
England and West Indies will play their league match here on March 17 while India would face the Carribean team on March 20 at the same venue. PTI
