Kolkata: Back to winning ways, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders enjoyed a day out playing serious golf as tear-away pacer Patrick Cummins and his team won the inaugural Knight Golf Tournament that took place at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Tuesday.
Cummins and his teammates Mayukh Ray, Abhikansh Basu and Sanjay Asmera returned with a team total of 53 points in a star-studded field of KKR players.
All-rounder Ryan Ten Doeschate and his team comprising Ankush Singhania, Gurshaan Kohli and Yogesh Bedi carded 56 points to finish the day as runners-up.
44-year-old Brad Hogg showed his energy on the golf course as well when he came back with 57 points along with his teammates Ishan Bajoria, Akshay Pasari and Paresh Patel for the third position.
Closest to pin contest was won by off-spinner Johan Botha on second hole. He landed his tee shot just 8-ft off the pin.
Sreekant Nagraj won the DLF Longest Drive contest on 15thhole after hitting a 308-yard long drive.
Legendary all-rounder and KKR's batting consultant Jacques Kallis also teed off with head coach Trevor Bayliss, physio Andrew Leipus, trainer Adrian La Roux in the tournament, which was played in the shot-gun format.
Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey were the few Indian players who played the full round.
Other players like Yusuf Pathan, Sheldon Jackson, K C Cariappa, Aditya Garhwal, Vaibhav Rawal and assistant coach Vijay Dahiya participated in a putting competition, which was won by Sheldon Jackson.
KKR resume action in the IPL taking on Delhi Daredevils on May 7.
