New Delhi: Finally curtains were lifted on future of Alastair Cook as ODI captain as ECB has decided to persist with him for the ICC World Cup starting next year in February in Australia and New Zealand.

His captaincy of the One-Day International team came under immense scrutiny after his team lost the ODI series 3-1 against India earlier this month.

According to Daily Mail, Cook is expected to be named England's captain for the one-day international tour to Sri Lanka in November-December, after coach Peter Moores and selectors James Whitaker, Angus Fraser and Mike Newell confirm and decided to stick by the 29-year-old – even after losing their last four home series.

Former England players Michael Vaughan, Graeme Swann and Kevin Pietersen have all demanded change and pointed and called for Cook's resignation due to his poor captaincy record in one-day format as well as miserable form with the bat.

England head to Sri Lanka for a series of seven One-Day Internationals in November before playing a tri-series in Australia that also includes India as their final series before the World Cup.

Cook has scored five ODI centuries at an average of 37.62 in 86 matches since debuting in 2006, but in the past year he has averaged just 31.07 and he has failed to reach triple figures in any form of international cricket.
