Mumbai: Kings XI Punjab edged past table toppers Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling "Super Over" match in their Indian Premier League clash at Ahmedabad last night, but the individual displays in the tie-break don't count for overall statistics.
A senior statistician with the BCCI told PTI that neither individual performances nor team scores in these one-over eliminators get added to the overall statistics of the tournament.
"We just mention that Kings XI beat Rajasthan Royals in the Super Over. The team scores are not added to the net run-rate of the competing teams. The individual performances also do not get added up," he explained.
On Tuesday, Royals scored 191 for 6 and Kings XI, in replay, made an identical score in 20 overs, leading to the one-over eliminator to decide the winner of the contest.
In the "Super Over" tie-break, Kings XI scored 15 for 2 and then took two of their rivals' wickets in four legal deliveries conceding only six runs to bring to an end the thrilling contest and also inflict on Royals their first defeat in six games.
