Galle, Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene survived lbw appeals before helping Sri Lanka move to 174-2 at lunch Friday on the third day of the first test, reducing Pakistan's first-inning lead to 277 runs.
Fast bowler Junaid Khan caused both seasoned batsmen some trouble after Sri Lanka lost opening batsman Kaushal Silva for 64 in pursuit of Pakistan's first innings total of 451.
But Sangakkara remained unbeaten on 63 at the interval and Jayawardene was on 18 in what is his last test on his favorite ground at Galle.
