Cape Town, Jan 6: A Jacques Kallis-inspired South Africa clinched its first home series win since 2008 with a 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the series-deciding third test at Newlands on Friday.
South Africa needed one ball of its second innings to get the two runs it needed after Kallis' 224 in the Proteas' first-innings 580-4 declared set up a dominant and relieving win for the home team.
Sri Lanka was bowled out for 342 in its second innings before tea on the fourth day after being forced to follow on. It was all out for 239 in its first innings.
Alviro Petersen drove a no-ball from Dhammika Prasad through mid-on to seal victory after Kallis had taken 3-35 in Sri Lanka's second innings.
He also had six catches in the match to equal a South Africa record for an outfielder.
