Johannesburg: South Africa defeated India by 141 runs in the ODI opener of India tour of South Africa played here on Thursday.


Chasing the target of 359, Indian batsmen fell to South African bowling attack like amateurs.

The bowling attack of South Africa was terrific and de Villiers decision of going with five pacers rewarded Proteas with victory.

For India, Skipper MS Dhoni who made 65 runs tried to help India rescue from huge loss but to no vain.

For South Africa, Dale Steyn and Mclaren shared 3 wickets each.

Earlier, Dhoni won the toss and put South Africa to bat first. Opening the Proteas inning Hashim Amla and de Kock started really well. Both hit runs all aroung the ground and scored 152 runs partnership for the 1st wicket.

Shami bowled Amla on 65 runs in the 30th over. But Kock carried on with his aggressive batting.

Jacques Kallis who came 1st down went for 10 runs when Jadeja caught him on the covers off Shami's delivery.

Then Skipper AB de Villiers and Quintin de Kock contributed 75 runs for the 3rd wicket.

De Kock scored his second ODI hundred but caught and bowled by Kohli on 135 runs off 121 balls studded with 18 fours and 3 sixes.

In the end, Duminy with de Villiers hammered Indian bowlers brutally. Duminy scored 59 not out off 29 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes and de Villiers made 77 off 47 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

De Villiers bowled by Shami in the last over of the inning.

For India, Only Shami was the man who claimed 3 wickets for 63 runs in his 10 overs. Kohli also took the wicket of Kock.
