Bangalore, Oct 1: A heavy downpour forced the Champions League T20 group ‘B' contest between Somerset and South Australia Redbacks to be abandoned without a single ball being bowled at the Chinnaswamy stadium here today.
The heavy showers, which came soon after South Australia Redbacks won the toss and opted to field, left the ground in unfit for play, forcing match referee Roshan Mahanama to call off the tie.
The contest became the first game to be abandoned in all the three editions of the tournament without a ball being bowled.
Somerset and South Australia both have three three points apiece. However, the English side is placed second in the table with a better run rate of Ʈ.289 and two games in hand.
Somerset had kick-started their campaign with a win victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. PTI
