Dhaka, Jun 9: Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has been rested for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe for a triangular Twenty20 series after the Bangladesh cricket board approved his request for a break from the game.
In a statement Saturday, the board said that it approved Shakib's application seeking exemption from the tour because he needed some rest after a hectic schedule in recent months.
The national team is scheduled to leave for Zimbabwe on June 12 for the series starting on June 18 that also involves South Africa.
On Saturday, Shakib said he was glad his request had been granted but was not sure yet how he would spend his vacation.
Shakib played in all of Bangladesh's 15 tests, 70 ODIs and eight Twenty20 internationals since 2009.
He also played for Khulna Royal Bengals in the inaugural Bangladesh Premier League and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
