Mumbai, May 9: Virender Sehwag has played his last match for Delhi Daredevils in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League as he will undergo shoulder surgery in England this week, according to sources.
The Delhi batsman ended up on the losing side in an away game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday night.
The following morning he left for Shirdi for a religious visit and is expected to move on to Delhi from where he will board a London-bound flight on Tuesday.
Sehwag will undergo a shoulder surgery there and hence will miss the forthcoming tour of the West Indies. It is learnt that Delhi Daredevils may now be led by Australian all-rounder James Hopes.
The Indian opener's decision to undergo surgery during the IPL and not before the mega tournament affects his chances of recovering fully for the all-important England tour.
Sehwag was dismissed for two against Mumbai Indians on Saturday when he top edged a Munaf Patel delivery and was caught by Rohit Sharma. He scored a sizzling hundred in the previous game against Deccan Chargers at Hyderabad on Thursday.
Sehwag's performance in IPL 4:
Matches: 11, Runs: 424
100s: 1, Average: 38.54
