New Delhi, June 4: The Supreme Court Tuesday agreed to hold hearing on a petition seeking a Central Buereu of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing scandal, which is being investigated separately by Mumbai and Delhi Police.
The apex court bench of Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Justice Madan B. Lokur agreed to hear the public interest litigation (PIL) for the CBI probe after petitioner advocate Vinod Kumar told it that investigations into the scandal by different state police could result into filing of different charge sheets before different courts.
The apex court was told that it would be prudent if the entire spot fixing scandal was investigated by the CBI in its totality.
Having agreed to hold the hearing on the petition, the court directed the listing of the matter for next week.
