Hyderabad, Apr 7 : Deccan Chargers skipper, Kumar Sangakkara, today sounded confident about his team's chances of regaining the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy this season.
At a promotional event here this evening, he said it was a new beginning for Deccan Chargers in the IPL IV.
"Deccan Chargers - Hyderabad team has done extremely well in the past IPL seasons. As a franchise and as a team, I hope the Hyderabadi fans will embrace us and we will do our best for you on the field and continue to do so right throughout the IPL season as we try and win IPL IV," Sangakkara said.
Deccan Chargers, which finished last in the inaugural season of the IPL and emerged champions in the Indian Premier League-II, is playing seven matches at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Uppal here this year. The Chargers will begin its campaign on April 9 with a match against Rajasthan Royals.
Sangakkara reiterated that it was a great privilege and honour for him to play for the Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad and added, "We will do our best to make all of you proud." PTI
