Lahore, Jan 7: Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal says he has added a new weapon to his arsenal and will use it against England in the upcoming Tests series in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

“It is a new variation on which I have been working for a while now. I don't know whether it will be successful but if it does not produce desired results I will stick to my tried and tested variations,” Ajmal told reporters in Lahore.

“I have always been comfortable bowling the ‘Doosra' and I get a lot of wickets with it but I also wanted to a try a new variation against England. Let us see how it goes,” added the 34-year old spinner, who last year was the only bowler to capture 50 Test wickets.

Saeed said he bowled a flatter trajectory and the doosra frequently as he was comfortable with both variations.

“Why shouldn't I bowl the doosra frequently when I am getting wickets with it. I know many batsmen still can't read or pick it,” he said.

Saeed said he had been bowling a lot in the nets in preparation for the coming series and had been focusing on deliveries and variations for the left-handers as England had some quality southpaw players.

“It is going to be a tough series but having bowled a lot in Dubai and Abu Dhabi I think our bowlers have a better idea of what is required in those conditions in the coming series and that gives us a slight edge,” he added.

The off-spinner, who made a late entry into international cricket, said he had no doubt it would be a gruelling series for the bowlers as both teams packed some top class batsmen.

“And in the conditions you find in the UAE it is hard work for the bowlers and a lot of discipline and patience is required to get wickets,” he stated.

The Pakistan team is presently attending a conditioning camp in Lahore under supervision of head coach Mohsin Khan with Aaqib Javed and Ejaz Ahmed assisting him as bowling and fielding coaches respectively.
