New Delhi:  Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar today sought blessings of his guru Ramakanth Achrekar on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Sachin posted the photos on micro blogging site and wrote "Sought blessings of my Guru on this auspicious day - A happy #GuruPurnima" to all.

It was Ramakanth  Achrekar who spotted the huge potential  and dedication that Sachin Tendulkar had for the game of cricket during his early days.

Sachin himself has explained on many occasion how important a role his 'guru' Ramakanth Achrekar played in his evolution as a cricketer and how he remains indebted to him. It needs no mention that Sachin Tendulkar went on to become the highest run-scorer in the history of the game.  

Ramakanth Achrekar, who has been coaching young cricketers at Shivaji Park in Dadar, played cricket in 1943 for New Hind Sports Club, Young Maharashtra XI and others.

He has also coached other cricketers as well who played for Team India.The list includes Ajit Agarkar, Vinod Kambli, Sanjay Bangar, Balwinder Sandhu, Chandrakant Pandit and Pravin Amre.

Sachin has always attributed his success to Ramakant Achrekar and he says “whatever I am today is because of his coaching and match practices that encouraged me,".
