Robin Uthappa retires from all forms of cricket, shares heartfelt message

Interestingly, Uthappa took retirement on the same day when he scored a brilliant half-century in the 2007 World Cup match against Pakistan.

India star player Robin Uthappa has announced retirement from all forms of cricket.

"It has been my greatest honour to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, all good things must come to an end, and with a grateful heart, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket," Uthappa tweeted.

Interestingly, Uthappa took retirement on the same day when he scored a brilliant half-century in the 2007 World Cup match against Pakistan. And when the match between the two arch-rivals was tied, the game went down to bowl-out.

Uthappa was one of the five selected players selected to target the stump and by hitting the bull's eye, India won by 3-0. Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, and Uthappa were the ones to guide India to historic win.

Uthappa made his international debut back in the year 2006. He was a part of the Indian squad that won theT20 World Cup in 2007. He also won several domestic titles by playing for Karnataka and has won the IPL title twice with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and with Chennai Super Kings in 2021.

Uthappa's performance in ODIs: 

He has played 46 ODIs and has scored 934 runs including six half-centuries with an average of 25.94.

Uthappa's performance in T20Is:

He has played 13 matches in the shortest format of cricket and has amassed 249 runs at an average of 24.90.

Uthappa's performance in IPL:

He has played all 15 seasons of the cricket league and has played for six teams including Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indian, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors India, and Rajasthan Royals. 

During his IPL journey, Uthappa played 205 matches and scored 4952 runs with an average of 27.51.
