Melbourne, Jan 31: Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has put fulltime retirement on hold to nominate for the lucrative Indian Premier League, AAP reported.

Ponting,  who retired from international cricket in November, has attracted the highest reserve price of $400,000  on the auction list of 101 nominated players.

Ponting is joined by his successor as Australian Test captain Michael Clarke as the only players with a top reserve price of $400,000 for the auction to be held in Chennai on February 3.

Clarke has been criticised over his desire to play in the high-profile Twenty20 tournament which ends on May 26, just a month before Australia's Ashes tour begins on June 26 with a four-day match against Somerset.

Clarke is joined by Ashes tour candidates Phil Hughes, reserve price of $100,000 , Matthew Wade, $200,000,  Moises Henriques $100,000,  and Glenn Maxwell, $US200,000.

After years of shunning the IPL's riches, Clarke joined the tournament for the first time last year with the Pune Warriors, but was released by the franchise after averaging 16.33 over his six games at just over a run a ball.

Ponting, 38, previously played for the Kolkota Knight Riders in the IPL in 2008.
