New Delhi: The BCCI's Disciplinary Committee, probing charges of alleged financial irregularities against suspended IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi, will submit its report by early October.
"I am going through replies given by Modi...The Committee will give its report by early October," Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries and a member of the Disciplinary Committee, Jyotiraditya Scindia told PTI.
Scindia said that Modi may be questioned during the course of trial. "We are looking at all the aspect of complaints. If there is a need for some clarification, he (Modi) will be called in," he said.
The Disciplinary Committee will meet in Mumbai tomorrow to discuss charges levelled against him. Modi has been summoned to appear before the committee.
In a related move, the Bombay High Court today rejected the petition filed by Modi seeking reconstitution of the disciplinary committee.
The High Court said that it was not going into the merits of Modi's petition but disciplinary committee itself can decide on the reconstitution when it meets on Friday.
Modi had said that he wanted the committee of independent persons and not of those who are the members of BCCI, as they would be biased against him.
The BCCI's disciplinary committee comprises interim IPL Chairman Chirayu Amin, Arun Jaitley and Scindia.
Modi had responded with a staggering 15,000-page reply to the first show cause notice served on him on April 26 by the Board accusing him of financial irregularities and bid-rigging in T20 cricket tournaments.
He had also responded to the two subsequent notices issued to him by the Board against the charges of trying to undermine the world and Indian cricket structure and wrong-doings in the granting of theatrical rights for the IPL.
"It appears prima facie that there has been certain irregularities. There are serious charges against him," Scindia said, adding that the Committee probe will be unbiased and free from all influence. PTI
