Melbourne, Jan 26: Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has warned of action against an Indian firm for using his photograph in a phone application without seeking his permission.
"We weren't aware of it and we'll be issuing action against them straight away for the use of his intellectual property," telegraph.com.au quoted Ponting's manager James Henderson, as saying.
A 99c iPhone application developed by an Indian firm, AHI Infotech, asks users to identify a cricketer's identity from close-ups of his face, and uses Australian cricketers' photographs, including that of Glenn McGrath, Steve Waugh and Shane Warne without their permission.
McGrath's manager Warren Craig also said that the image was used without permission.
"It's news to me. We have no relationship with (the developer). And we had to look it up to see what Face Guess Cricket was," Craig said.
The company was unavailable for comment.
