London: England batsman Kevin Pietersen has been passed fit for the fifth Ashes test against Australia following a precautionary scan on his right knee.
An England statement says the scan was “part of an ongoing monitoring process following the bone bruising injury that occurred in February.”
Pietersen has helped England take a 3-0 lead in the five-match series, which will end with the fifth test at The Oval starting Aug. 21.
He has been troubled with a knee injury since March, flying home from the tour of New Zealand with the problem, and said after the drawn third Ashes test at Old Trafford that he will be “in rehab for the rest of my career.”
