Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board missed out on at least $1.5 million after its short tour of South Africa could not go ahead because of the PCB chairman's suspension.

"We could have earned $1.5 million ... but the day tour was supposed to be finalized, the court suspended us," suspended chairman Najam Sethi told Geo Television on Sunday.

Sethi said he had almost finalized the plans for Pakistan's tour to South Africa starting Nov. 16, before Islamabad High Court judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui suspended him and the Interim Management Committee of the PCB last Tuesday.

The IHC suspended Sethi for not conducting elections for the chairman's post within the 90 days which expired on Oct. 18.

The Pakistani government appointed Sethi as interim PCB chairman in July after the IHC suspended Zaka Ashraf for not being fairly elected.

The recent legal battle has virtually paralyzed the workings of the PCB.

According to Sethi at least 89 people are "jobless" after their contracts expired last Thursday -- two days after he was suspended. He said that includes national team bowling coach Mohammad Akram, who is currently with the team in the United Arab Emirates, head of international cricket Intikhab Alam, Haroon Rasheed and Wasim Bari.

"There is no authority to extend their contracts or to review them ... or to renegotiate terms," Sethi said.

He said there's also no national selection committee at present to pick a Twenty20 squad for the two-match series against the Proteas in Dubai scheduled for Nov. 13 and 15.

"I don't know if we are playing T20s or not, there's no selection committee," he said.
