Alison had spotted Panesar on Tinder after he uploaded a picture of himself batting against Australia.
She said: “I'd been to the Melbourne game, my first cricket match, the day before so I realised who he was.
“I sent a message because I wondered whether it was really him. I was shocked when it was.”
Divorced Sikh Panesar quickly responded. He told her he loved American girls and asked her what she was doing that night.
In a string of messages he asked her to come over to his room at the Como hotel and explained that he could not meet her at a bar because the players were banned from going out.
Alison, who wanted her surname withheld, said: “I would have met him in a public place but I was not going to meet him at his apartment by myself. You would hope people do not do that.”
