Sana became Pakistan women cricket team's captain in 2009 to lead her team in the Women's World Twenty20 tournament. Pakistan Women's team won The 2010 Asian Games Gold Medal under Sana Mir's Captaincy. Though the performance was not up to the Mark in Women's World Cup 2013 in India, where her team could not even win a single match. The Pakistan team finished last in the eight-team event. The women's team has qualified for the 2012 T20 and 2013 Women's ODI world cup under her captaincy. For the first time ever, the team also beat South Africa, thereby, improving their world ranking from 8 to 6.
