Mirpur: Good bowling performance by the bowlers led team India to the victory by 20 runs in their last warm up match against England this evening. Despite a good start, England fell down to 158/6 in 20 overs.
Michael Lumb and Jos Buttler tried to take the match away from India with their innings but that was just not enough. Michael Lumb scored 36 off 25 balls including 6X4 and 1X6. Jos Buttler scored a quick 30 off 18 balls including 2X4 and 2X6. Moeen Ali also supported England's innings by scoring 46 off 38 balls including 4X4 and 1X6.
For India Jadeja took 2 wickets in his 3 overs giving away 23 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, R.Ashwin and Raina took one wicket each.
This win would certainly boost up the morale of Team India before they take up their arch rivals Pakistan in the first major match of the tournament on Friday.
Earlier, after three early wickets, half centuries by Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli helped India to post 178 on the scoreboard after India was asked to bat first by England Captain Eoin Morgan.
Virat Kohli scored unbeaten 74 off 48 balls including 8 boundaries. Suresh Raina played an innings of 54 off 31 balls including 6X4 and 2X6.
Dernbach, Jordan, Bresnan and Bopara took one wicket each for England.
A win seems to be eluding India as their already low morale further dented when they lost a practice game against Sri Lanka on Monday.
Now India would be desperate for a win when they take on England in their second and final warm-up game in the ICC World Twenty20 Championships here today.
India will be playing their first group league match against Pakistan on Friday and a win against England is a necessity considering the team's continuing poor form.
The Indians went down by five runs in the opening warm-up match against Sri Lanka on Monday.
