London: England reached 385-7 to lead India by an emphatic 237 runs at stumps on day two to maintain control of the fifth Investec test at the Oval here Saturday.
Joe Root comes up with an unbeaten 92. It is his eighth test half century and he will look to secure his century on Sunday. He is at the crease with Chris Jordan, 19 not out.
Resuming after tea England leading India by 98 runs with a total of 246/5, Joe Root and Jos Buttler put on 80 runs for the sixth wicket. Buttler was later dismissed at 45 by Ashwin who caught him at short midwicket. Soon after Chris Woakes followed him to the pavilion with duck.
Ashwin (2/55), Aaron (2/111) and Ishant (2/58) took two wickets apiece, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/86) also chipped in on the day. Stuart Binny (0/58) was the other bowler deployed.
