So, it's stumps on the second day of the match. Indian openers have gone unbeaten as India finished the day on 36/0. Another proper test match cricket day. Khawaja and Green piled more runs before the tail wagged to take the visitors past 450. Indian openers then remained unbeaten to make a wonderful setup for the moving day of the test match. It was pleasure bringing this day to you. I Varun Malik, along with Kartik Mehindru, sign off, see you tomorrow.
A fine start by India as both the openers are looking to be positive. They would want to go unbeaten.
It's been almost two days to say this, but the Indian openers are finally in the middle to bat. Rohit and Gill face a huge task and so does the rest of the team to get close to Australia's 480.
And Australia have been finally bowled out. Ravi Ashwin grabs a six-wicket haul as Australia get bowled out for a huge 480 on the board. This was surely some batting effort, ably led by Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green, before the tail ensured an over 450 run stand. So, India need to work really hard now.
Ashwin takes a five-wicket haul as he dismisses Todd Murphy. He has become the highest Indian wicket-taker in the history of Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Well, Murphy and Lyon are putting up a resiliant effort here. The tail's wagging for Australia. What will it take for Australia to declare from here?
India are smelling blood here. There are a lot of noises now and things can end pretty quickly from hereon
Well, it wasn't to be. Khawaja has been sent back by Axar and he falls 20 short of the 200-run mark. Magnificent innings though, and has left Australia in pole position.
Great session for India, but Khawaja is still the man. I reckon Australia are waiting for him to get to 200 and then declare. They have already got plenty on board. We are sure to see India bat in the last session.
The body language has certainly changed for India. They are now making all kinds of noises, and would certainly feel like they can do the most damage now. But, can they? They have sent back Starc, Khawaja is the man for Australia.
Well..well...well, Ashwin has done it. He has brought India right back in the game. 2 in an over, and Starc is now on the field. Can India keep up the momentum?
Alright, India finally have something to celebrate. Ashwin has sent back dangerous Green and India will feel that they have an opening now. Can they keep up the good work?
Well, this has been a phenomenal effort from Green. What a hundred this, and he will remember it for ages. Australia, for that matter, will remember this for ages. Brilliant stuff.
And the players are back after lunch. Cameron Green and Usman Khawaja look to keep on piling runs.
This has been a masterclass from Khawaja. An exhibition of grit and determination. He gets to his 150 as the teams head to lunch. India will need to make a strong comeback from hereon. A win for them, at least right now, looks out of sight.
Australia have crossed the 300-run mark and India are now looking at 2nd straight session without a wicket.
Australia have a cautious and decent start to the first session on Day 2. Green has gone past 50, while Khawaja is eyeing a 150 now. India in great need of a wicket.
Well, Khawaja and Green, expectedly, are taking their time again. The pitch looks flat, and there's nothing in it for the bowlers. India could be looking at a long day on the field today.
Well, the show must go on.
Cameron Green played pretty nicely yesterday and has now gotten to his 50 first thing in the morning.
Pat Cummins's mother, Maria Cummins, passed away overnight. Earlier, Cummins left for Australia after the 2nd Test in Delhi to be with his ailing mother. Australian players will wear black armbands in respect of Cummins' mother in the ongoing 4th Test against India in Ahmedabad.
