Asia Cup 2022, IND vs PAK, Highlights: Redemption for IND, Agony for PAK; IND win by 5 wickets
-
It's redemption for India. Agony for Pakistan. Hardik Pandya has done it. India win by 5 wickets.
What a match this has been. A proper thriller that lived up to all the hype it was subjected to. A match straight out of a Hollywood thriller. It has been great bringing you all the live action. India will next play Hong Kong on Aug 31, Wednesday. Until then, this is Kartik Mehindru, signing off.
Indian Innings
- Hardik has killed the chase. Equation for the last over - 7 runs | 6 balls.
- India need 21 runs from the last 2 overs.
- Jadeja has hit a monstrous six to bring the equation down to 21 off 13 balls. Naseem is clearly struggling.
- IND 107/4: The equation is simple for India. 41 runs | 24 balls. They have the big-hitters at the crease and the biggest of them all is waiting in the dressing room.
- Hardik Pandya is the next batter. Jadeja is at the crease and Karthik is still in the dug-out. Run rate won't be a problem for these big-hitters. They just need to pick the right balls to do the damage.
- Big big breakthrough for Pakistan. India have lost their X-Factor - Suryakumar Yadav. Can the Indian batters inspire a fightback?
- IND 89/3: So, India need 59 in the last 6 overs. Almost 10 an over.
- IND 83/3: Suryakumar and Jadeja have stabilised the ship and also hit some lusty blows. Can they keep up the good work?
- IND 61/3: Kohli is out and Pakistan are cock-a-hoop. This is a big moment in the context of the game and Indian cricket. India in trouble.
- IND 53/2: Rohit Sharma falls and it is a big breakthrough for Pakistan. Jadeja is the next batter.
- India needs to be careful here. They need to look for an occasional boundary. Wouldn't want the run rate to climb up.
- IND 38/1: Great Powerplay for Pakistan. They sent back KL Rahul and kept things tight. India would be happy that they didn't lose more wickets. Their biggest batters are the crease and the dug-out would hope that they continue the good work.
- Pakistan have not let India get away with the game. It's game on in Dubai.
- IND 23/1: Pakistan tried to create a tense atmosphere, but Kohli has soaked in all the pressure. Just the start of his innings though.
- IND 3/1: Well, well, well - Not the start India were hoping for. Pakistan have a dream start. Early wicket and it is that of Rahul, who goes for a Golden Duck.
Pakistan have been bowled out for just 147. At once, it looked like India would restrict them to under 130. But late strikes by Dahani meant Pakistan reached closer to 150. They do have a fighting total now. Can Rohit and Co. chase it?
Pakistan's Innings
- Pakistan in total dismay at the moment. They haven't been able to break free at all. India looking at a rather low chase.
- PAK 109/5: Asif Ali is the man for Pakistan now. He can really hurt any team in the death. India would want to keep things tight.
- PAK 88/3: Iftikhar was itching to go big. Good strategy to bowl bouncers by India. Pandya used it to good effect and has sent Iftikhar back.
- PAK 68/2: Not the score Pakistan would have hoped for after 10 overs, but they have it now. Both batters are set and need to go big. If not, Pakistan then is looking at a below-par score.
- Pakistan have done well to keep getting in those singles and doubles. They aren't far behind in terms of run-rate. Things can change pretty quickly after the 13th over. India need to keep things tight.
- PAK 43/2: Pretty mediocre Powerplay for Pakistan. They have lost two of their top batters in Babar and Zaman. All eyes on Rizwan now.
- Rizwan has taken quite a few deliveries to settle down. He is the man for Pakistan now.
- PAK 28/1 - Fakhar Zaman seems to have come out with positive intent. India needs to be careful. He can take the game away pretty quickly.
- Indian bowlers have been right on the money. Proper test match bowling and Pakistan, to be honest, despite all those drives, have looked clueless.
- PAK 15/1 - Bhuvi does it. Here's the first breakthrough for India. Babar is back in the hut.
- PAK 14/0 (2) - Well, what an eventful first two overs. Close calls, lovely drives, plays and misses.
