Misbah -ul-Haq OUT 76 (84) Shami Misbah c Rahane b Shami. A brave fighting innings by Misbah-ul- Haq comes to an end.

Pakistan 220/8 after 45 overs

Misbah-ul-Haq 76 (80) Sohail Khan   4 (7)

Mohit Sharma takes Yasir Shah and Ashwin also bowled well today and this is indeed a good news for all the fans of Team India. Dhoni will be relieved captain today as both Shikhar Dhawan and Ravichandran Ashwin has shown signs of returning to form.

Pakistan reaching 200 at 42nd over. Now the target for Pakistan is only getting more difficult. It looking like Misbah is fighting a total different game. Kohli and Sohail exchanged some words. Misbah is not a happy man, he angrily waves at Sohail to go and take position at the non-striker's end.

Yasir Shah c Yadav b MM Sharma 13 (23b)

Mohit Sharma to Yasir Shah, OUT, Shah goes.

Pakistan 194/7 after 40 overs

Misbah-ul-Haq 63 (69)  Yasir Shah 6 (11)

Misbah-ul-Haq is the only player fighting it out for Pakistan in the middle. It has become a one man show for Pakistan. Misbah completes another ODI fifty. His 39th  ODI fifty, Misbah is now playing shots freely and swinging his bat at every delivery.Pakistan scored 44/2 in the batting powerplay.

Pakistan 154/7 after 35 overs

Misbah-ul-Haq 31 (48)  Yasir Shah 0 (2)

Pakistan losing three wickets in quick succession

Mohammed Shami to Wahab Riaz, OUT, another one bites the dust. Short, wide, looks to cut, gets the edge

Wahab Riaz c Dhoni b Mohammed Shami 4 (2b )

Mohammed Shami to Shahid Afridi, OUT

Shahid Afridi c Kohli b Mohammed Shami 22 (22b)

Pakistan 132/5 after 30 overs

Misbah-ul-Haq 18 (30), Shahid Afridi 18 (14)

Umesh Yadav  is certainly the man of the moment as the speedster mad a splendid comeback afer his initial three overs. He first tool dangerous looking Shehzad and then took Shoiab Maqsood .Ashwin  also bowling well and pressure is on Pakistan.MS Dhoni once again making good bowling changes and India is loking for wickets.Pakistan meanwhile will hope that dangerous Shahid Afridi plays a good innings

Pakistan 105/5 after 25 overs

Misbah-ul-Haq 8 (13), Shahid Afridi 1 (1)

Three wickets in quick succession has certainly pushed Pakistan out of the game as it seems from here. Umesh and Jadeja bowled some wonderful spells while Dhoni was smart behind the stumps. He has placed his fielders very well.

Shahid Afridi is the next man in

Pakistan 103/5

Umar Akmal c Dhoni b Jadeja 0 (4)

OUT! Another wicket! Its Jadeja this time. Umar Akmal tries to defend it in front but gets a very thin edge that went straight to Dhoni's gloves. Umpire declined but Dhoni was sure and went for review straightaway. The snicko doesn't moves much but shows a feather. Akmal is a goner. Pakistan's half side is back to pavilion.

Umar Akmal is in at no. 6

Pakistan 102/4

Sohaib Maqsood c Raina b Yadav 0 (2)

OUT! Edged and gone! Raina takes another good catch. Umesh has got two in the over and Pakistan have lost the plot.

Sohaib Maqsood is the next man in

Pakistan 102/3

Ahmed Shehzad c Jadeja b Yadav 47 (73)

OUT! What a catch by Jadeja. It was wide outside off and Shehzad cuts very hard, doesn't get the placement right though. It goes low and to Jadeja at backward point. He fumbles once but managed to hold on the ball.

Pakistan 92/2 after 20 overs

Ahmed Shehzad 42 (61), Misbah-ul-Haq 1 (2)

The batsmen are living dangerously out there. Risky runs are being taken. Ahmed Shehzad survived a run out chance as he managed to ground his bat on time when Dhoni whipped off the bails. Though he is in aggressive mode and hitting all bad deliveries bowled to him.

Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq is in now

Pakistan 79/2

Haris Sohail c Raina b Ashwin 36 (48)

OUT! Ashwin strikes! Edged and that's a easy catch at first slip by Raina.

Pakistan 67/1 after 15 overs

Ahmed Shehzad 26 (45), Haris Sohail 28 (36)

Bowlers made a slight comeback in the game conceding only 21 runs in last five overs. Both the batsmen are now well set with a half century partnership.

Pakistan 46/1 after 10 overs

Ahmed Shehzad 10 (23), Haris Sohail 23 (28)

Haris Sohail is looking dangerous out in the middle and meanwhile bowlers are not able to control their lines. A slow and steady partnership seems to be building here between Haris Sohail and Ahmed Shehzad. Dhoni missed a run out chance when he hit the stumps on his end rather than on bowlers end. He was not able hear the call from Shami, he signalled.

Pakistan 28/1 after 5 overs

Ahmed Shehzad 5 (11), Haris Sohail 14 (9)

Good start for the bowlers particularly Mohammad Shami. He provided India the first breakthrough of the big man Younis Khan off his bouncer. Umesh Yadav bowling from other end seems to be struggling with his line. He conceded three boundaries to Haris Sohail in his 3rd over.

Haris Sohail is in at no. 3

Pakistan 11/1

Younis Khan c Dhoni b Shami 6 (10)

OUT! Short ball does the trick for Shami. He was surprised by the sharp bumper from the bowler. Clever thinking from the bowler to bang the ball short, Younis certainly wasn't expecting it. He was initially trying to duck, but changed his mind and tried to pull. The ball rushed onto him, hit the glove and popped up in the air. Dhoni took a few steps to his left and took an easy catch.

Shehzad will take the strike and Umesh Yadav to start off for India.

Openers Younis Khan and Ahmed Shehzad are out in the middle

Pakistan is about to begin their chase shortly. Lots of smoke at Adelaide. The fireworks creating that.

-------------------------------------

Only 27 off the last five overs, but the 273 in the first 45 might just have done the job for India. Pakistan have never chased more than 262 successfully in a World Cup match but India on the other hand have always defended 300 plus totals.

In the backdrop of a jam-packed stadium, with 50,000 fans making a raucous din, Virat Kohli essayed an awe-inspiring century to help India amass a huge score of 300 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs. It turned out to be his 22nd century in ODIs. Kohli was eventually dismissed for a superbly-paced innings of 107 off 126 deliveries. Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina also chipped in with key knocks for India. On the other hand, Pakistan's bowlers didn't help their cause by struggling to bowl with good control for most part of the game, but by taking a slew of wickets in the slog overs, they gained a bit of momentum going into the innings break.

India 300/7 after 50 overs

Ravichandran Ashwin 1 (1), Mohammad Shami 3 (3)

India posted a formidable score of 300 on the board. Few wickets in the end but India somehow managed to reach the milestone. This is not going to be an easy chase for Pakistan.

Mohammad Shami comes in at no. 9

India 296/7

Ajinkya Rahane b Sohail Khan 0 (1)

OUT! Rahane is a goner now. Rahane makes room to try to hit it over cover, and has the top of the leg stumps disturbed. Sohail Khan is on a hat-trick and a five wicket haul as well.

Ravi Ashwin is in now

India 296/6

MS Dhoni c Misbah b Sohail Khan 18 (13)

OUT! Dhoni has failed to finish again. This is reaching proportions of concern. Short ball. Beaten for pace. Late into the pull. Top-edges this for an easy catch for Misbah at mid-off.

Ajinkya Rahane walks in at no. 7

India 296/5

Ravindra Jadeja b Riaz 3 (5)

OUT! Riaz gets his man. Bowled him. slower delivery shattered his stumps.

Ravindra Jadeja walks in to bat

India 284/4

Suresh Raina c Haris Sohail b Sohail Khan 74 (56)

OUT! Just as when Raina was looking for another milestone, he went for another skier off Sohail Khan but it went high in the air and Haris Sohail takes the catch at deep mid-wicket.

MS Dhoni walks in at no. 5

India 273/3

Virat Kohli c Akmal b Sohail Khan 107 (126)

OUT! Needless shot by Virat. It was wide outside off and he went to play away from his body. The ball gets an edge straight to keeper Umar Akmal. But Virat did his job!

India 273/2 after 45 overs

Kohli 107 (124), Raina 72 (51)

Raina and Kohli are on fire today. Kohli has become the second man and first Indian to score a century in an Indo-Pak encounter meanwhile Raina gets his half century too. What an innings by these two! The partnership too has crossed the century mark. There seems to be no pause or stop button. Absolute carnage!

India 217/2 after 40 overs

Kohli 94 (113), Raina 30 (31)

Virat Kohli has shown his worth and have proven an old saying, "Form is temporary, Class is permanent." This is what he is doing here. Inching towards his century Kohli despite surviving few chances manages to hold on to the crease while Raina at other end is also scoring almost run a ball. The partnership now has cross the 50-run mark.

Time for batting powerplay and Wahab Riaz comes into the attack.

India 192/2 after 35 overs

Kohli 83 (97), Raina 17 (17)

Raina and Kohli have started to build on another good partnership. Raina was out of form as well but here is good opportunity for him. He smashed Haris Sohal for a biggie over midwicket where Yasir Shah was standing just short. The balls tap onto his hands and went over the boundary line. It would have been a nice one handed effort if he was standing slightly deeper.

India 165/2 after 30 overs

Kohli 73 (84), Raina 0(0)

Both Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan notched up fifties as India looked set to amass a sizeable total on the board. Just in the nick of time though, Misbah-ul-Haq effected a direct hit to send Dhawan back to the pavilion and end the century stand.

Suresh Raina is in at no. 4

India 163/2

Shikhar Dhawan run out (Misbah) 73 (76)

OUT! it's a run out! The batsmen went for a single but Kohli said no. Dhawan while returning back fell just millimeters short of his crease. Direct hit by Misbah and stumps glitters. That was the end of a strong 129 runs stand.

Mohd. Irfan has been given two official warnings by umpire Ian Gould for run on the danger area of the pitch. He had been cautioned earlier by Kettleborough, but this is an official warning by Gould.

India 131/1 after 25 overs

Dhawan 58 (64), Kohli 54 (66)

Both are Dhawan and Kohli are out of their poor form and scored brilliant half centuries. This is a good sign for both and India which can be useful for them as the tournament progresses. Dhawan did well to get a fifty, so did Kohli. And now these two batsmen should unleash some aggressive shots.

India 98/1 after 20 overs

Dhawan 47 (51), Kohli 35 (49)

India are playing this well. They are keeping the scoreboard ticking with sensible batting. Just no risks taken. The running between the wickets has been very good too. The partnership has crossed the half-century mark and should look to score far more than that. Some quick stuff by the bowlers as well. Pacers are bowling well above 140kph mark.

DRINKS BREAK

India 71/1 after 15 overs

Dhawan 33 (39), Kohli 21 (31)

Eventful five overs that were. Kohli survived a dropped chance and later scored couple of boundaries. Dhawan is also looking well set after his poor form. The partnership is also slowly building up but they need to avoid playing useless shots.

Shahid Afridi has the bowl now

India 42/1 after 10 overs

Dhawan 22 (29), Kohli 3 (11)

It's a good pitch to bat on but Rohit Sharma didn't manage to hold on. He went for a pull that ended in a catch, thus throwing wicket away his wicket to Sohail Khan. All the batsmen need to do is to take time to settle down first rather than playing lofted shots.

Virat Kohli is in at no. 3

India 34/1

Rohit Sharma c Misbah b Sohail 15 (20)

OUT! First breakthrough for Pakistan. The short ball does it for Sohail Khan. Hurried onto Rohit who was on the front foot looking to pull gets a top edge. Misbah runs in and completes a simple catch.

India 21/0 after 5 overs

Rohit 12 (15), Dhawan 8 (15)

What a beginning for the mega clash of India and Pakistan. Mohd. Irfan is getting good bounce while Sohail Khan almost had the wicket of Dhawan he tried to push the ball to third man. It was just wide of second slip. A third slip there and Dhawan was a goner. The crowd is estatic as both the batsmen scored a boundary each.

Rohit has the strike and the big man Mohammad Irfan is all set to bowl first.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are out in the middle.

Pakistan (Playing XI): Ahmed Shehzad, Younis Khan, Haris Sohail, Misbah-ul-Haq(c), Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Akmal(w), Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Sohail Khan, Mohammad Irfan

India (Playing XI): Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni(w/c), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav

India have won the toss and have opted to bat

Pitch report says that it's a good batting pitch. Rock hard pitch and really flat. Certainly a 300 plus total pitch.

According to media reports, Dhoni is likely to play 5 bowlers which means a batsman will be less for India.

On the other hand, India have had a poor tour of Australia which has shaken the belief of many that the World No.2 side will be able to retain cricket's most eminent title.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar may not play as India don't want to risk him. Jadeja will be the first choice over Axar Patel. It could be a toss-up between Stuart Binny and Mohit Sharma for the last spot. Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will be the preferred openers.

However, India's bowling is in more than a spot of bother. With pace spearhead Ishant Sharma out of the tournament with an ankle injury.

But Pakistan's fast bowling has been their traditional strength. The seven-foot-tall Mohammed Irfan and proven match-winner Wahab Riaz, both left-armers, will lead their pace attack.

The withdrawals of all-rounder Mohammed Hafeez and left-arm pacer Junaid Khan have come as a severe blow. Then ace spinner Saeed Ajmal was also not selected in the squad after the International Cricket Council (ICC) ruled his action illegal. However, his action has been cleared recently.

While Pakistan have a better One-Day International (ODI) record against India, they have never been able to defeat their traditional rivals in all five Cup contests till date, the last of which came four years ago in the semi-final at Mohali. However, Pakistan would want to straighten the record in the Cup opener for both sides.

The Group B fixture once again raises the question of whether Pakistan will be able to break the jinx and defeat their neighbours in the sport's showpiece event.

For many, the outcome of the World Cup doesn't even matter as a victory in this match is as good as winning the title. The organisers have said that the tickets of the 50,000 capacity stadium were sold out within minutes after they went on sale.
