Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra is now pitching for a team owner in the IPL governing council. He also wants this team owner to act as the spokesperson for all the franchises, reports The Times of India.

Sources in the Rajasthan franchisee told TOI that Kundra has written a letter to the existing eight teams to appoint Royal Challengers Bangalore owner Vijay Mallya as the spokesperson for voicing the team owners' opinion in the governing council.

"I propose Dr Vijay Mallya as our spokesperson and look forward to you all supporting this. We need unity and your support for the betterment of our investment and future of IPL," Kundra is said to have written to the teams.

According to sources, the Royals co-owner also regretted the prevailing situation in the board and suggested, "Our spokesperson should immediately be part of the current IPL decision being taken." He further wrote: "We are not here to question the BCCI on their decision to change the chairman. However, as founders of this league, it's our right to have at least one owner in the IPL governing council."

The BCCI has not taken this suggestion too seriously. "These franchisees don't run Indian cricket, it's the board. If there is any problem, the team owners are expected to come and approach us instead of writing letters like this. There is a governing council in place to take a call," a top BCCI official told TOI on Wednesday.
