The England left-hander led his side to two Ashes triumphs. Under his captaincy, England climbed to the number one spot in Tests but he was also at the helm when England were routed 3-0 by Pakistan in the UAE. The recent home series loss to the Proteas cost England and the controversial spat with Kevin Pietersen may have prompted Strauss to end his 100-Test career.
